Henrietta STUART
Henrietta Stuart (1965) is a London-based painter who works primarily with oils to explore the atmospherics of landscape. Her large-scale gestural canvases respond to, and aim to capture something of, the mysterious and multilayered nature of place. Each collection emerges out of time spent living and working in a particular environment. Having studied Fine Art at Newcastle University in the 1980s, Stuart has since lived and painted in Marseilles and the Languedoc, France, as well as the Greek Island of Ithaca. In 2011 she settled in West London where she paints from her studio in Wimbledon. Extended trips to places including the West Coast of Scotland and Australia have informed more recent bodies of work.
Her works have been acquired by collections in New York, Houston, Mexico, Australia, Paris, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, and Germany, as well as throughout the UK. Henrietta was represented by Will’s father, Nicholas Bowlby Fine Art, since 1996.
