Eleanor DORRIEN-SMITH
British-American artist Eleanor Dorrien-Smith graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2008 with a BA in Fashion with Print. For over a decade Eleanor worked as a fashion and textile designer and her creative work has continually been inspired by the landscape and history of the Isles of Scilly.
Building on her love of drawing and colour, in 2021 Eleanor made a shift from her background in design, and she held her first informal exhibition of a collection of charcoal drawings. Since then Eleanor developed her work as an artist and in 2023 her painting ‘Coastal Lines’ was selected by Eileen Cooper RA, and it was exhibited and sold at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. In 2024 Eleanor gained new gallery representation with Morgans Gallery, was invited for a residency with Waterside Gallery, and went on to exhibit and sell a further two paintings in the RA Summer Exhibition 2024 - this time selected by Hurvin Anderson RA. Eleanor’s works were also selected for Messums London and exhibited online as part of their 2024 Emerging Landscape Painting Today exhibition. In 2025 Eleanor exhibited again with Morgans and also with Nicholas Bowlby Gallery at the Affordable Art Fair in the Spring Battersea Show and was selected by Christopher Le Brun PPRA for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2025.
"It's a beautiful painting, fresh, lovely touch and full of light" - Christopher Le Brun PPRA
Eleanor’s attention to line and colour are an indicator of both her background in print design and her love of the coastal landscape she is so familiar with.
Eleanor is based in Bristol working from her studio at home.
